Introduction
Welcome to this little booklet, which I have put together to help you to navigate into a more powerful expression of your faith in Christ. I have endeavored to show what the scripture says concerning how the Holy Spirit is involved in the new birth, bringing people to salvation through receiving Christ as Lord and Saviour.
The Word of God also has much to say about a second experience called the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This experience has impacted millions of people globally since the day of Pentecost- Most notably since the historic outpouring of the Holy Spirit that began at Azusa St in California in 1906. Since then, this experience has spread across the planet like an unstoppable fire.
Today, there are approximately 650 million Spirit-filled believers globally. The Holy Spirit is being poured out across the earth like the Prophet Joel declared.
It is an exciting time to be alive and it’s so important that we have a solid biblical foundation for experiencing the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. John the Baptist talked about this, when he said there is one coming who will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
I was 12 years old in 1984 when, at a large charismatic meeting in Dunedin, New Zealand, I received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and began speaking in tongues. At the time, I was part of the Anglican Church, which I had grown up attending.
This Baptism of the Holy Spirit, proved to be a life-changing experience for me. I cannot imagine what my life would have looked like had I not experienced this outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
It has equipped me to pray when I have not known what to pray. The Holy Spirit has helped me navigate difficult and challenging situations that have arisen from time to time. When I have prayed in tongues for extended periods, I have seen God move powerfully in and through my life.
Put simply, it has been exactly as Jesus said it would be.
You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me. Acts 1:8
I can testify this is true. I pray that this little booklet will help you to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and begin praying daily in a heavenly language.
