God Speaks Through His Word

I had just finished ministering at a series of revival meetings called Encounter Jesus in a small town in Ontario, Canada. One of my friends, who pastors a church in the area and was on the leadership team for the event, said to me, “We need to do this kind of event in Lebanon,” where he had lived and pastored with his family for many years. My response was, “I am open to that if the Lord wants me to go.”

After this event, I went down to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to be part of a conference. On the way down, as I was praying, I said, “Lord, I will go to Lebanon if You speak to me and show me that it is Your will.” During the service, the man preaching put up a Scripture that mentioned Lebanon. When I saw this, I said to the Lord, “That’s cool, but if You want me to go to Lebanon, You are going to have to speak to me about going there—and You need to show me in the Bible!”

Immediately, I flipped open my Bible, and my eyes settled on a verse of Scripture that pierced my heart. It was 1 Kings 5:14. The Scripture began with the words, “He sent them to Lebanon.”

At that moment, I knew that God was going to send me to Lebanon on a mission. I began telling people, “I am going to Lebanon.” At that time, the war was still going on. Over the next year, we continued to pray about this periodically.

One night during our church prayer meeting, my Bible was open, and I looked down at the page, which was Ezekiel 28. Normally, I read this passage and think, Oh, that’s about the fall of Lucifer. This time, I noticed the heading, The Fall of the Prince of Tyre, and thought, Wow, I bet Tyre is located in modern-day Lebanon. I looked up the maps in the back of my Bible and confirmed that this was true.

I said to the Lord, “I won’t pray for Lebanon tonight unless You make it really clear.” During the course of the meeting, I prayed for one of the young ladies there. As she was returning to her seat, she said, “Can I share a word?” She continued, “While you were praying in tongues, I heard English.” I asked, “What did you hear?”

She said, “The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon,” from Psalm 29.

I said, “Okay, we will pray for Lebanon.” Within a week of these prayers, things began to drastically change in Lebanon, and the war started to come to an end. This led to our trip there.
