The Benefits of Praying in Tongues

1. Direct Communication with God

   “For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.”
   1 Corinthians 14:2 (NKJV)
   Praying in tongues allows believers to speak directly to God, bypassing the limitations of human language.

2. Spiritual Strength and Edification

   “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself...” 1 Corinthians 14:4 (NKJV)
   “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit...”

   Praying in tongues is praying in the Spirit and builds up your faith like a spiritual workout that strengthens your inner man.

3. Refreshing and Renewal

   “For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, to whom He said, ‘This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest,’ and, ‘This is the refreshing’; yet they would not hear.” Isaiah 28:11–12 (NKJV)
   Tongues offer spiritual rest and refreshing from the presence of the Lord.

4. Alignment with God’s Will

   “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

   The Holy Spirit helps us pray perfectly according to God's will, even when we don't know what to pray. Helping us to make intercession for Gods people.

5. Overcoming in Spiritual Battles

   “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues...” Mark 16:17 (NKJV)
   Tongues are part of the spiritual arsenal given to believers, empowering us to stand strong in spiritual warfare.

6. Obtain Revelation

   "Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret."1 Corinthians 14:13 (NKJV) The interpretation of the tongues can be the spirit of revelation talked about in Eph 1:17 and may not be something you knew previously. Tongues and interpretation is a powerful flow of the Spirit that emerges as we pray for the interpretations to come. This can take place privately and in public meetings.
